[Features] Queen Brass is a brand born from a collaboration between Taiwan’s Hokson—which handles OEM manufacturing and parts supply for European and American brands—and Sanada Trading, which has long dealt with numerous high-end European and American brands. Hokson is a manufacturer committed to producing parts entirely within Taiwan, ensuring consistent quality. This manufacturing expertise is fully utilized in Queen Brass as well.
A major feature of this instrument is the brushed satin lacquer finish applied to the 152-millimeter red brass bell.The satin finish is applied only to the bell, while the valve casings and tuning slide feature a standard gloss finish. It offers a warm, mellow tone derived from the red brass and satin bell, while still retaining clear articulation and definition. Its appeal lies in its versatility, allowing it to blend naturally not only in jazz and solo performances but also in large wind ensembles and other group settings.
Structurally, unlike a typical flugelhorn, the main tuning tube is positioned toward the front of the instrument, similar to a trumpet. As adjustments can still be made on the mouthpipe side as before, you can switch between setups to suit your preferred playing position and feel. Additionally, the removable main tuning tube makes cleaning the interior of the tube easier, ensuring excellent daily maintainability.
In terms of practicality, the set includes a large-shank mouthpiece as well as a mouthpipe designed for trumpet shanks. It produces a soft, warm tone while still maintaining clear definition when needed—this well-balanced sound, which doesn’t lean too heavily on the “typical flugelhorn” character, is the greatest appeal of this Satin Bell model.
