Gibson / 1957 CF-100E
In 1950, Gibson suddenly announced the CF-100E.
This guitar features a compact LG-sized (14 1/8-inch) small body with a sharp Florentine cutaway, and comes standard with a P-90 magnetic pickup at the end of the fretboard.
In modern terms, "Electric AcousticIt was a pioneer in this field, but at the time, piezo pickups didn't even exist.
The idea of mounting a magnetic pickup directly onto an acoustic body was so groundbreaking that it was a revolutionary model that was more than a decade ahead of its time.
1957 marked a golden age for Gibson as a whole, with humbuckers starting to be fitted to Les Paul guitars, among other things.
This device also embodies the benefits of that era.
- P-90 pickup
The P-90 pickup mounted at the end of the fretboard doesn't simply pick up the acoustic sound as is, but rather amps out a sweet, thick, and gritty vintage tone.
Non-scalloped X-bracing
Featuring a spruce top and mahogany sides and back, this guitar boasts a compact size, yet its thick, solid neck grip, characteristic of 1950s guitars, produces rich sustain.

Because the pickup is directly mounted to the top plate, the resonance of the body is slightly suppressed compared to a pure acoustic guitar, which conversely produces a "percussive, focused, dry, natural sound."
