—For humidity control of your precious instrument
A musical instrument’s greatest enemies are humidity and dryness.
In summer, when humidity is high, and in autumn, when the air is dry, the condition of your instrument is prone to fluctuation.
・What happens when humidity rises?
When the bodies and necks of stringed instruments such as guitars, violins, and cellos absorb moisture, the body may swell. This can cause the bracing—the wooden supports used to adjust the tone and reinforce the body’s structure—to come loose.
Additionally, as the neck expands, it can warp.
・What happens when it gets dry?
When moisture is drawn out of the wood, it begins to shrink.
This can cause the decorative binding wrapped around the outside to peel off, the body panels to crack, and the fingerboard to shrink, potentially causing the frets to become exposed.
That said, it would be a shame to become so preoccupied with humidity and dryness control that you end up installing elaborate equipment or losing the joy of playing your instrument.
That’s where Boveda humidity control packs come in handy.
While silica gel packets found in packaged snacks are designed to keep the contents from getting soggy, Boveda’s humidity control agent—made from pure water and natural salt—works to maintain an optimal humidity level of 49%.
It maintains a constant 49% humidity by releasing moisture when the air is dry and absorbing excess moisture when humidity rises.
It’s very easy to use.
This set includes three Boveda 49% RH packs and a dedicated holder (single & double) to store them, so simply place the packs in the holder and put it inside your instrument case!
*We recommend placing the single pack near the head of the case and the double pack near the soundhole.
This will protect your precious instrument, so why not use it for everyday storage?
