Explanation
Martin / 2006 CTM 00-45
[Demo Video]
"The Style-45, Adorned with Beautiful Decorations"
The 00-45 debuted in 1904. This model first appeared as the Style-45 and continues to attract many players today as Martin’s flagship model.
This is a 00-45 built in 2006. It features the distinctive, elegant look of the Style-45, and the 00 (Double-O) size is smaller than the 000 (Triple-O), making it easier to hold. Let’s take a closer look.
- 12th-fret joint fingerboard
The ebony fingerboard, featuring hexagon inlays made of abalone shell, is set into the body at the 12th fret. Compared to a Dreadnought with a nut width of approximately 43mm (based on comparable models from the same era), this model has a nut width of approximately 48mm, resulting in a string spacing that is about 1.5mm wider (measured at the 1st fret), making it a favorite among fingerstyle players. Of course, it also offers excellent playability for singer-songwriters, so you can play it regardless of genre.
The top features tightly grained spruce, while the body edges are adorned with ivoroid and abalone shell inlays; similarly, the rosette is decorated with multi-striped rings and abalone shell inlays. It is evident that high-quality wood was selected for the top.
The sides and back feature beautiful straight-grained rosewood, lavishly adorned with ivoroid and abalone shell inlays.
The backstrip features the multi-color design unique to the Style-45, lending a beauty reminiscent of a single flower set against a rosewood canvas.
The ebony down-beard bridge is fitted with a short saddle, and the white bridge pins are adorned with a single accent of abalone shell.
The mahogany neck features a slim, arched shape that, combined with the nut width, makes it comfortable to hold. Additionally, the volute is meticulously crafted to enhance strength.
The rosewood-veneered headstock features a slotted design, and the vertical logo (commonly known as the "vertical logo") molded from abalone shell at its center adds a touch of elegance. Ivoroid inlays are also wrapped around the headstock.
The tuning machines feature leaf-inspired engravings, and the buttons are made of ivoroid.
