Explanation
Martin / 1935 Model 000-28
[Demo Video]
Introduced in 1933, the 000-28 is one of the Style-28 models, characterized by its smaller size and thinner body compared to the Dreadnought.
The top features tightly grained Adirondack spruce. It features ivoroid binding with herringbone trim.
The pickguard features a tortoiseshell pattern. Its dark brown color complements the amber-toned body finish.
The ebony down-bowed bridge is fitted with an ivory long saddle.
Brazilian rosewood with straight-grained selection is used for the sides and back. This grain pattern is a distinctive charm of this era.
The back strip features a zigzag pattern.
The fingerboard is ebony with diamond square inlays. This specification remained in use until 1944.
The neck is mahogany, featuring a moderately thick V-shape.
The headstock uses Brazilian rosewood veneer, with the C.F. Martin logo featuring gold lettering and black outlines. The angular headstock shape is also characteristic of models made until around 1940.
Grover V98 tuning machines are fitted. The pegs were changed to Kluson pegs in 1937, making this instrument a valuable pre-change model. It's surprising how well it still functions while retaining its original condition.
[Staff Comment: Hoshino]
The authentic pre-war tone is crisp yet delivers an incredible volume you wouldn't expect from a 000 size. The neck area has been repaired, so it plays smoothly and delivers authentic pre-war sound.
