There are countless in the worldEffectorThe brand exists.
Brands that relentlessly pursue vintage circuits, brands that realize the ideal sound with the latest technology, brands that meet the demands of professional musicians... As you all know, they are all wonderful.
However, among them"You won't find another brand in the whole world that can make pedals like these!"There is a brand that I can confidently recommend.
That's a boutique pedal brand from the Netherlands. DR. NO Audio(Official page)is.
The Wonderful World of DR.NO Effects
What is DR.NO Effects?
Based in Eindhoven, Netherlands, this pedal brand was founded by Roel Aben (aka DR.NO).
According to their official website, DR.NO began making guitar pedals around 2003 and has since produced numerous artistic pedals.
Above all, it's a pedal brand that I, Sano, absolutely love, and it's rare to see so many models gathered together at once, so I thought this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and wanted to take this opportunity to put them all together.
In this column, we will introduce some of the most artistically acclaimed pedals from this brand, including those that we have previously stocked!
While many boutique pedal manufacturers pursue the "best sound," DR.NO's creations place great importance not only on sound but also on storytelling, aesthetic beauty, and exclusivity. As founder Dr. No himself states, "Since 2003, we have been handcrafting each pedal, adding an essence of art," demonstrating a commitment to limited-production, meticulous craftsmanship that is the antithesis of mass production.

Necrofuzzicon
"The first in the Wizard series! A roaring fuzz pedal reminiscent of a grimoire from the Middle Ages!"
When this is displayed in a showcase, the first thing people ask is, "Is this a book?" It looks exactly like something out of the Harry Potter series. No one would ever imagine that you could plug power supplies and shielding cables into a thick, encyclopedia-like book.
The name, a slight play on "Necronomicon," is quite unique, as it's a fictional grimoire from the Cthulhu Mythos world created by H.P. Lovecraft, said to contain forbidden knowledge and rituals/spells related to cosmic beings. Incidentally, there is also a compact version with a metal casing called "Necrofuzzicon II."
Moon Canyon "Blood Moon Edition"
This artwork depicts a "bloody moon," a phenomenon where the moon appears coppery (reddish) during a total lunar eclipse.
"The allure of the moon, a wonder moon floating in the pitch-black sky! A multi-effects unit combining overdrive, reverb, and delay!"
It was created not as "equipment for playing music," but as "a work of art for experiencing a story or worldview."EffectorIt is inspired by the fantastical, cinematic musical world of co-developer, guitarist Sarah Lipstate.
The regular version is available here.
This pedal features multiple functions such as overdrive, delay, reverb, and an effects loop, but its purpose is not simply to be multi-functional. It is designed to allow performers to explore new landscapes and emotions by layering, expanding, and transforming sounds. The name "Moon Canyon" also evokes the image of traveling between the boundaries of reality and dreams.
DR.NO likens this model to "a novel" (the outer box is shaped like a book), intending for the performer to weave their own story while manipulating the pedals. Therefore, rather than being a tool for reproducing a fixed sound, it is closer to an instrument for creating a unique sound image while enjoying serendipity and discovery.
In other words, the concept of this model prioritizes and pursues functionality and efficiency.EffectorRather, it is an art form that stimulates the performer's imagination and creates a journey and story through sound.EffectorThat can be said.
This model is limited to a total of 350 units produced between 2018 and 2025. Each release consisted of either 25 or 50 units, with the first release taking place on the full moon of March 21, 2019. Sales continued until all 50 handmade limited editions were sold out. (Since 2022, production has been temporarily scaled down to accommodate new product development.)
Mother Brain
"Vintage delay sound created by three brains"
This analog delay pedal is designed as an art piece themed around "memory" and "the brain," producing a classic and elegant tone.
Believe it or not, the knobs are shaped like brains!? There are also three controls: "MEMORY," "INSANITY," and "PRESENT." True to its analog nature, the delay sound has a rounded quality and a slightly saturated feel. The contrast between the pop design and the three realistic brain-shaped original knobs is quite bizarre.
DYBBUK "LEGBA VIBE"
"A fusion of art pieces and vintage Uni-Vibe"
First, you'll be surprised by its distinctive "horns." Are they real horns? And are the control parts made of real bone?
Dr. No was deeply engrossed in three themes: the occult, magic, and mythology. He drew inspiration from these themes to launch the SORCIÈRE project.
This is the "Legba Vibe," named after Papa Legba, which was created as a result of that project.
Papa Legba is a key figure who appears when one is at a crossroads in life and about to sell their soul to the devil. This deal is said to bring many benefits, but in return, one must offer their soul. Papa Legba's rituals and characteristics appear to be depicted on the internal printed circuit board. (Unfortunately, this will only be visible to the owner, as the rubber feet are perfectly fitted.)
Limited to 250 units, it was released in batches of 50. It was originally sold for €666.00. This model comes with a beautifully designed original box featuring hand-printed silkscreen printing, and an antique-style cotton storage pouch.
The Djinn
The second pedal in the wizard series, a collaboration between the genius Dr. No and Alan Johannes!
Following the first fuzz pedal, "Necrofuzzicon," this unique pedal is the culmination of four years of close collaboration with Alan Johannes. Booster? Fuzz? It's a pedal unlike any other. Perhaps the most accurate description is that it's an effect that brings out the characteristics of every instrument. Hidden charms emerge, tones become clearer, instrument dynamics are enhanced, and this pedal dominates the guitar, amp, and other instruments.EffectorThis brings out previously unknown characteristics. It works at the beginning or end of the effects chain. Rather than coloring the characteristics of the signal, it enhances the characteristics of the instrument andEffectorIt emphasizes and brings out the characteristics of the signal. Setting the gain high produces a very pleasant, natural clipping, but without coloring the signal itself. Warm wooden parts, a vintage-style pouch, and bird's foot-shaped, amulet-like accessories further enhance the mysterious atmosphere.
Road Runner '2023
The Road Runner, dubbed the "Octave Fuzz Wah Flying Machine," is a model born from a collaboration with David Catching (also known as Diamond Dave, Darlin' Dave, and Davey Jo Snohawk). This particular item is a special version produced in 2023.
This ultra-unique model pushes the sonic possibilities of a wah pedal to the extreme, fusing the sweet, singing Octavia fuzz with a wah effect. It boasts a wide range of expressive capabilities, from exotic and delicate tones reminiscent of a sitar to sharp, piercing heavy fuzz-wah sounds. Its sound is anything but straightforward, revealing various expressions depending on how far you press the pedal and how you adjust the volume on your guitar. Truly worthy of the name "Flying Machine," it's an unpredictable and exciting pedal.
When I first saw it, I couldn't help but think of a character from a famous Japanese anime. Its pop, unique, and somewhat endearing look is a major part of this model's appeal.
Holy Wahcomoly "10th Anniversary Reissue"
This is the ultimate handmade rocker wah pedal from the genius Dr. No.
This wah pedal features a truly unique design by the Dutch pedal industry's genius, DR. NO. Ten years after its initial release, this model has been absent for a long time, but it has been revived as a special edition for a limited time. The inductor is the highly versatile, popular, and extremely noise-free Ultimate Original “Myth” Halo type (600mH).RecruitSimilar to the brand's famous wah pedal "RoadRunner," DR.NO uses vintage Flock processing technology (a traditional processing technique that creates a soft texture by applying electrostatically charged Flock).RecruitI am doing it.
It might look like a novelty item, but it's actually a serious piece of work. It even has a rotary switch that lets you select from three different sounds. The top logo and pedal rubber parts look like erasers (you could probably use them as stamps if you put ink on them...but don't do that!), and the enclosure is covered in velvet fabric that makes it look like a stuffed animal (even the knobs and bushings are covered...). It's an appearance that you'll never forget once you see it.
KFC Crystal Boost
This is a clean booster called "SOUCE DISPENSER," released in 2017.
This is a collaboration model between Koen Fu and Dr. No, and is entirely handmade. At first, I was surprised to hear "KFC," but it seems to be an abbreviation for Koen Fu's Customshop. KFC's crystal skull technology...RecruitIt is a mysterious pedal that is said to be made, and the official website states the following: "Crystal Skull isEffectorIt is built inside. Do not touch the crystal skull directly or stare at it for more than 30 seconds. The crystal skull is powerful enough to send and receive signals through the casing, so we recommend using it with the lid closed at all times. Indeed, there is a skull inside... I couldn't help but peek at the skull to check it out. Also, be careful not to stare directly at the huge blue LED that tries to blind you when you turn on the effect.
Skull Fuzz “Original”
A different version is available here.
"Life-size!? Skull Fuzz!"
This skull-shaped fuzz pedal is so intricately made that you might doubt it's real.
Has there ever been a pedal this "seriously awesome" before?
According to Dr. No, the sound of this pedal is like this: "Imagine a demon sharpening a trident on a giant whetstone, launching heavy, gleaming metal fragments like rockets, raining down on a scorched earth, creating an unimaginable noise. The fragments rain down into a dark world littered with skulls. Millions of souls groan and wander, screaming in unbearable pain..."
The controls are two eyeballs! They're about the size of a child's skull...it would be pretty scary if these pedals were staring at you in your room at night.
TVL Octavia
"A heart that looks like it could start beating at any moment!"
This is an Octavia-type fuzz pedal designed by guitarist Troy van Leeuwen, whose name is also used for the model, "DR.NO".
The guitar sound heard in the final solo of Jimi Hendrix's "Who Knows" by Band of Gypsys is unmistakably Octavia. The magical Octavia tone explodes especially from the 12th fret onwards. Only 50 units were produced, making this fuzz pedal hard to find both domestically and internationally. The intricately crafted tiny skull knob and the heart that lights up when the effect is on, almost as if you can hear it beating, are truly breathtaking.
THE TURD
"No explanation needed! The forbidden, perverse fuzz!"
This is a poop-shaped fuzz pedal that boasts a powerful impact. What is this? Ugh, it's dirty! It stinks! This fuzz pedal has such a powerful and impactful appearance that you might involuntarily say these things. Despite its appearance, it's a powerful, classic type, and it has absolutely no controls. (The fuzz sound is completely fixed.) Because, without a doubt, it's poop. The fly clinging on tightly is an LED, which is amazing.
Back in the day, this was the kind of unique item you'd find in souvenir shops in tourist areas, like the kind you'd often see at places like Village Vanguard, but for some reason it turned into a fuzz pedal... To turn the effect on, you have to stomp on this piece of poop with all your might. If you can't stand that feeling, you won't be able to use this pedal.
THE TURD was the first brand we received at our store, so I wondered what kind of eccentric and bizarre brand it was. However, every pedal I've come across since then has been a mind-blowing work of art (!!) and each one has a story and a dreamlike quality to it.
DR.NO Effects is simply for coloring the sound.EffectorA highly unique boutique that fuses sound and art, rather than being a brand.EffectorI personally consider it a brand.
Therefore, I think it's more suitable for users who value their own individuality and expression, rather than users who are looking for a standard or safe sound.
This brand is particularly well-suited for those who seek original sounds, whether it's fuzz or delay.
Each product embodies a unique design and story, making them popular and beloved by users who value attachment to the equipment itself and the joy of ownership. If you're looking for a truly unique pedal that no one else has, and you resonate with DR.NO's philosophy, then these are definitely products you should check out.
Overall, DR.NO Effects is a brand that is more suited to users who are looking for "an item to shape their own unique sound expression" rather than "a tool for creating sounds."
