1992 Ken Smith BT6 Fretless -Melvin Davis-

It all began with an offer that came into our shop, from Jon Smith, the son of Ken Smith. You can find the detailed description at the URL below, so please take a look.

*Historical explanation from Ken Smith and his encounter with his son Jon

As a result, our shop gained a direct connection with Ken Smith. Based on our reputation as a trustworthy shop, we were entrusted with acquiring the very Bass used by Melvin Lee Davis himself—the Bass he used as his lifelong partner.

Melvin Lee Davis is a bassist whose name is known to virtually every bassist.
Born in Orange County, California in 1960, he began violin at age 4, saxophone at 6, and started playing the Bass in high school. At sixteen, he was discovered by Buddy Miles and based himself in New York, building his career alongside countless musicians. His overflowing talent led him to co-create the Soul Train theme and serve as musical director for Chaka Khan, who won a Grammy Award. His genius is undisputed, transcending musical genres with his vast range of ideas and skills.

Regarding the BT6 Fretless -Melvin Davis-Bass featured here, I think it's better for him to speak about his impressions rather than me. Honestly, it's only natural that it sounds great when he plays it, and the quality of the sound alone makes a strong impression.Bass Without delving into the specific materials or specs of this particular instrument, the history cultivated by both the instrument and its owner, as encapsulated in his statement "genres are labels imposed by the industry; it's all music," can be experienced together. This shared history will undoubtedly become a lifelong joy for the owner of this instrument.

I'd like to thank Jon Smith and Melvin Davis for providing this opportunity.
