Explanation
The ’66 Precision Bass: The Epitome of “Practical Vintage”!
Bass Precision Bass was born in 1951 as the world’s first solid-body electric Bass. Needless to say, modern music as we know it would not exist without this Bass. Since its release, the Precision Bass has undergone slight design changes over the years.
This 1966 model has been refinished in Lake Placid Blue. The neck date is 1966, the pot date is 1966, and although the pickup date is illegible due to adhesive residue, we have determined it to be original. The pickguard, knobs, and frets have been replaced.
It features an alder body, a round rosewood fingerboard, pearloid dots, and the “’66” Transition logo. The refinish was applied at a workshop in Japan , and the aged finish truly highlights the instrument’s inherent character and presence.
The ’66 model is characterized by a sound that’s on the moderner side even among ’60s models. It delivers a very well-balanced tone, featuring the fast-attacking lows typical of vintage instruments, a full-bodied midrange, and highs that provide clear definition. This guitar has remarkable versatility, responding to a wide range of playing styles—from a woody tone to an attack-driven sound— depending on your picking technique. Although the neck is on the thinner side, it never feels flimsy and delivers a punchy Precision Bass sound!
It has been refretted and is in excellent playing condition. This is Bass vintage Bass you can use on stage without worrying too much about it being “vintage”!
