A rare American Deluxe fretless model!
The American Deluxe series was introduced in 1998. While preserving the classic Fender sound, this series incorporates components suited to the modern music scene and pursues superior "sound, quality, and specifications." It features modern specifications with upgraded specs compared to standard models.
This 1999 model features an alder body and rosewood fingerboard, and is a fretless type with visible fret lines. It has a four-point neck joint without a heel cut. At first glance, the pickups appear to be standard J-type models, but they are actually stacked humbucking pickups, a specification found in the early American Deluxe series. The controls consist of volume, a pickup balancer, and a 3-band EQ.
Active fretless guitars are rare on the market, but these controls are perfect for fine-tuning the sound exactly where you need it! The sound isn’t powerful; it’s strictly a warm fretless tone, so this is a model worth considering even if you’re looking for a passive guitar!
