Explanation
"Have you ever come across an instrument that makes practicing and playing even more enjoyable than it is now?"
K.Yairi / DY-45 Honduras Rosewood
"K.Yairi" has long been a pillar of the Japanese folk guitar scene. As a top brand, it remains committed to handcrafting each instrument in Kani City, Gifu Prefecture, by a small team of elite artisans—just as it has always done. Its craftsmanship is widely supported by top players around the world, and the overseas export models under the "ALVAREZ YAIRI" name are cherished by Paul McCartney.
Today, we’re introducing the “DY-45,” one of the most popular models in the Standard Series. Faithfully following the Style-45, this model features abalone-adorned trim and rosette, combined with high-grade, densely grained spruce, making it clear at a glance that this is a premium and special instrument. The sides and back feature Honduran rosewood, a high-quality wood often cited as a substitute for Brazilian rosewood. Its lighter wood tone creates a beautiful contrast with the spruce top.
In terms of sound, it lacks the "New" freshness—in a good way. It has a light, mature tone, and I am very impressed by how it allows you to significantly shorten the process of breaking in the guitar until it reaches its "old" sound. While the use of low-oil Honduran rosewood is certainly a factor, you can tell from Yairi’s uncompromising craftsmanship, the sound checks performed during the final stages, and the “artisan’s signature” on the sound check sheet that they have absolute confidence in this sound.
Considering this sound at this price point, the value for money is undoubtedly high.
[Playing Condition] The neck is straight, and the string action is set to 2.7mm on the 6th string and 2mm on the 1st string at the 12th fret. There is approximately 5mm of saddle height remaining, so the string height can be adjusted to your preference. *As this is a display model, there may be very minor scratches.
