Hello. I'm Inoue, the manager of
Advance Guitars.
This time, I have an important announcement I really want to share with everyone...
Regarding our instrument magazine ...
A feature article about vintage Gibson J-45s...
has been published!

Column: "The Workhorse: The History of the Gibson J-45"
I've been writing quite a bit over the past few months, and now it finally feels like the J-45.
While numerous articles and reference materials about the J-45 have been published before,
so why delve into the J-45 now?
At Advanced Guitars, we've handled countless vintage J-45s over the years. From the 1940s to the 1960s, we've felt the individual variations and specification changes firsthand, touching them and listening to their sound continuously.
This column stems from that experience and our passion for the J-45.
We decided to pull out every last piece of past records, photos, and data we could find—not just our current inventory—and create a visual, systematic gallery article on the J-45! This desire finally led us to take on the challenge.
Leveraging experience gained from publishing the SJ-200 reference collection, we measured the instruments themselves wherever possible.
We've compiled the historical evolution of the Gibson J-45, beloved by acoustic guitar players for decades, by examining each individual instrument.
Rather than simply accepting existing information at face value, I've re-examined the J-45 from the ground up. To avoid creating just another catalog, I've included my own observations and personal perspectives.
I hope you can sense that difference. Another key point is that this article isn't the final word.
Every time a J-45 comes into Advance, and as long as I'm here, that information will be updated.
The content may change in the future, so you can only see the current record right now.
I've poured everything I currently possess into this, so reading it might be challenging, but I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
Viewing is, of course, free.
Please take a look!
