Explanation
Yokoyama Guitars / AR-GC German Spruce, Camatillo
Expressive highs, crystal-clear harmonics, and clarity in fast passages. Few instruments can deliver all of this simultaneously.
If you find yourself thinking: "I want a guitar that responds more honestly to my fingers." "I want a guitar I can trust to deliver my sound, whether in the studio or live." Then finding this page might just be fate.
Yokoyama Guitars AR-GC── It is the crystallization of meticulous and sincere craftsmanship, born from the hands of guitar builder Tadashi Yokoyama. In 1975, Mr. Yokoyama joined Morris, gaining extensive experience in production ranging from finishing and handcrafting to electric guitars and banjos. In 2006, driven by the desire to "create guitars that would become his own legacy," he finally launched his eponymous brand. Free from all constraints, he crafts guitars entirely according to his vision, delivering the ultimate instrument to many players.
The body of the AR-GC featured here utilizes German spruce for the top and generously employs Kamatilo, a wood now drastically reduced in availability. The top's tightly packed grain pattern possesses a three-dimensional quality, delivering a sound that is both soft and resonant with a solid core. Kamatilo is a rare wood, captivating with its unique purplish hue and beautiful striped pattern. Yet it also combines the rich low end of rosewood with a responsive, snappy attack. It's beautiful not just to look at, but to hear.
The difference is instantly apparent when you play it. Its optimized lower string height, especially suited for fingerstyle, allows the high-frequency overtones to rise beautifully, emphasizing transparency and deep sustain. Even in complex arrangements where melody and accompaniment intertwine, each note retains its contour, offering piano-like separation. Furthermore, fretting in the high positions is exceptionally easy, allowing the guitar to naturally accompany fast phrases and harmonics.
The classic Auditorium shape with a round cutaway offers excellent body fit and a fatigue-reducing structure for extended playing sessions. Vibrational energy is transmitted throughout the instrument without loss, faithfully reflecting the player's nuances.
Furthermore, its appearance, stripped of unnecessary ornamentation and pursuing essential beauty, is not to be overlooked. It is not merely "premium wood"; its form, a fusion of carefully selected timber and meticulous woodworking techniques, is truly design for sound. As time passes, the wood breathes, becoming familiar with your sound and growing with you. That is a Yokoyama guitar.
