In 1974, YAMAHA announced its "L Series" lineup, emphasizing a premium orientation. The first model released was the "L-31". This model elevated the FG-2000 to a luxury level, leading directly to the Custom series introduced in 1975. The "L" in the series name stands for "Luxury," and it featured the highest-grade models among the three series then available: FG, N, and L. Furthermore, the four models introduced to the L Series lineup starting in 1975 were given the grandiose title of the "Four Heavenly Kings." Each of these four models boasts a distinctive appearance and eye-catching design.
This time, we present the 1977 L-52 CUSTOM Its jet-black jumbo body evokes Gibson's Everly Brothers models. The body width is approximately 435mm, and the body depth is just under 120mm, giving it a notably wide body. Paul Simon and John Lennon's instruments were custom-ordered as the CJ-52, the successor to the L-52, and both seemed to fall in love with its sound.
The sound impression features a crisp, maple-like character combined with the characteristic YAMAHA sound pressure. Because each string has its own saddle, like a TOM, the sound separation is excellent. Yet, it never sounds thin; you can feel the body vibrating solidly, delivering a rich, deep low end.
It offers a truly unique tone within the YAMAHA acoustic range, well-suited for jazz and blues like an archtop.
[Condition] The neck and wood components have been inspected and adjusted by an acoustic guitar specialist, with all areas in excellent condition. The neck is straightened with no buzzing or dead notes. The 12th fret string height is set to 2.5mm on the 6th string and 2mm on the 1st string for comfortable playability.
The neck shows paint chipping from capo use, and the body has numerous buckle marks.
