Okubo GakkiRegarding the business activities
We are a music store specializing in used instruments. Primarily operating as a shop dedicated to brass instruments like trumpets and saxophones, we handle sales, repairs, and purchases, supporting our customers' musical lives in every way. We also sell some Japanese instruments such as shakuhachi and shamisen, as well as violins.
Recently, our staff have been actively seeking out outstanding products overseas and expanding our business as an import agent and authorized retailer.
Our business operations can be broadly categorized into three areas: sales, repairs, and purchasing.
Sales staff primarily assist customers in selecting instruments by guiding them through trial sessions.
We strive to provide tailored recommendations that meet the diverse needs and concerns of all our customers—from those just starting out with an instrument, to students, and even veteran players.
As a characteristic of used instruments,NewUnlike mass-produced items, the condition upon arrival varies from piece to piece. Instruments that have been used for a long time,NewThe condition of instruments varies depending on how they've been used, such as those that have been stored away with little use over time.NewTo ensure they can be selected under the same conditions, repairs and adjustments are essential.
The second main aspect of our business is instrument repair. At our shop, over half of our staff also handle repairs for their assigned instruments. Primarily, we perform tasks to prepare in-store inventory for sale: cleaning, polishing, adjustments, and so on. One of the unique charms of a used instrument specialist shop is the opportunity to handle a variety of historic instruments, including rare vintage pieces no longer in production. (It's irresistible for instrument enthusiasts.)
In addition, we frequently receive requests for regular maintenance (warranty adjustments), replacement of consumable parts for customers' instruments, and consultations regarding customization.
Another distinctive feature is the absence of barriers between the sales floor and repair area. Repair work isn't done silently behind the scenes; it's often performed while interacting with customers, making it very rewarding.
Thirdly, we offer trade-ins for purchases or replacements, and buy unused instruments. We accurately assess each instrument's history, craftsmanship, and current condition to determine its value, providing the first step in supporting its journey to a new owner.
Our store is led by a veteran manager with over 30 years of industry experience who has seen countless instruments, earning the deep trust of our customers.
Additionally, other job responsibilities include updating the website and photographing musical instruments for the online store.
Light duties such as cashier work, stocking small items, and creating point-of-purchase displays are also available.
Our store is small, so each staff member represents the face of the shop. Would you like to work with us, surrounded by instruments, and bring your unique personality to the team? Feel free to contact us for a store tour first. We look forward to your application.
