How did everyone spend the New Year’s holiday?
I went back to my hometown in Hokkaido!
When I took this photo, my friends laughed and asked, “Are you a tourist?”
New Year’s Eve soba, osechi, ozoni, crab, sushi, ramen.
I’ve completely indulged in Hokkaido’s New Year’s cuisine, recharging both body and soul. I’ve now returned to Tokyo.
And!
TCGAKKI’s New Year sale featured a massive clearance of featured items!
The bass section, themed “Ultra-Rare,” unexpectedly received two Chapman Sticks at the same time!

(The Chapman Stick isn’t a Bass, but I handled it. It’s a super interesting instrument!)
Both were purchased almost as soon as we opened.
A huge thank you to everyone who visited our store!
We also received the ESP RM-330DA, which boasts an eye-popping overall length.
When weighing instruments, I usually hook a scale onto the tuning peg and lift it to measure, but for the first time ever, my height meant I had to raise my arm above horizontal to keep it from touching the ground.
I didn’t have enough shoulder strength to hold it up like that and keep the scale steady, so I stood on a step stool to take the measurement.

Even though it’s such an oversized instrument, when I put the strap on, the balance is absolutely perfect!
You do need to be careful when handling it, but there are no issues with playability—it really lives up to its reputation as a signature model!

Actually, we just received six new ones!!!
And this time, they’re built to the specs TCGAKKI ordered!!
Body shape, number of strings, scale length, body wood, neck wood, parts… and so on—with MGBass, you can customize every single detail.
From among tens of thousands of possible combinations, Mr. Tanaka from our repair department and I consulted back and forth and had a blast making our selections.
They’ve already arrived at our store from South Carolina, and seeing the finished products has us grinning from ear to ear. But we’re not just grinning—we’re hard at work preparing them for sale!
