Released around the late 1960s, this radical octave fuzz pedal features a tone selector that switches between a bass-heavy, punchy sound and a slightly quirky tone emphasizing the high-mids! Deadstock item!!
Controls include a "VOLUME" knob that doubles as the power switch, a "FUZZ ADJ." knob for adjusting the distortion, a tone selector footswitch, and a bypass footswitch. Even at minimum, the "FUZZ ADJ." provides significant distortion; turning it up increases the distortion while simultaneously bringing out harmonics. The classic Japanese fuzz sound—with its characteristic "beep-beep, zzzz" distortion—is enhanced by a melancholic upper octave, creating a rich, deep, and lustrous tone. When playing chords, the sound tends to get a bit squashed, but this results in an incredibly powerful, bold sound that really asserts itself. The bass-heavy sound, switchable via the tone selector, delivers an astonishing metallic feel. This unit boasts an exceptional sound and is truly a legendary Japanese fuzz pedal!
This unit is actually a deadstock item from over 50 years ago, unearthed from a warehouse at a music store in Jakarta, Indonesia! While the finish shows some slight dullness, the control plate is shiny. It has some wear, but it comes with the valuable original box, manual, and cable.
