MGBass - Artist

David Rajaonary

I was eager to explore the magic of this beautiful instrument...

David Rajaonary (aka Rade or Bema Bass) is a talented musician from the island nation of Madagascar.
He grew up very modestly in a family of six. His father is a songwriter and guitarist.
But it wasn't until he was 13 years old that Rade found out. When he saw his father playing the guitar at a family gathering, he was instantly captivated.
When he saw his father play at a family meeting, he was instantly hooked. He begged his father to teach him, but was told that his father told him to wait until he got his school diploma first.

But the passion for music was already planted in him. He was eager to explore the magic of this beautiful instrument.
Rade began to teach himself in his own way. His father took notice of his potential and
Rade began playing guitar every week.

Rade began playing weekly gigs at local pubs. He learned quickly, but could not afford his own bass guitar.
I couldn't afford a bass guitar. He had to borrow a guitar for every gig. Still, he found a way to get on stage every week and get the crowd in the groove.
He got the crowd in the groove.

In 1990, Rade moved to Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar, in search of a better future. His family was.
family wanted him to continue his education, but he began to make money from music.
Rumors of his talent spread. Rumors of his talent began to spread. He was
invited to play bass for Madagascar's leading groups, touring nationally, in Europe, and eventually in the United States.
Rade settled in New York City and has since made a name for himself on the New York music scene. He is currently.
currently part of the world music group BeMaeva and has worked with countless artists including Okaidja Afroso, Muriel Mwamba,
and countless others. He plays a variety of instruments, but "my favorite is of course
Buckeye burl by MGbass and a custom 6-string Wavebird burl. His message to aspiring musicians is this,

If you really want to be a professional musician, work for it. If you really want to be a professional musician, work for it.
Make it a priority. Don't let any difficulties stop you from moving forward."

Thomas Campbell

Pushing the boundaries of the bassist role...

Thomas Campbell (Newport, Rhode Island) has been playing bass since 2006, with an emphasis on death metal and fretless bass. Influenced by bassists and rule breakers from a wide range of registers, Thomas aims to make his voice resonate on the instrument and create his own unique style. He pushes himself with each new song, pushing the limits of the bassist's role in extreme metal music. Thomas has many influences, but his goal is to be the first "Thomas Campbell" in the death metal music scene.

Currently, Thomas' main projects are the progressive death/doom band Luna Chamber (signed to record label 20 Buck Spin) and the technical death metal band Progeny. He also plays live for the progressive death metal band Voidceremony (signed to record label 20 Buck Spin). Thomas' playing can be heard on the Luna Chamber record "Shambhallic Vibrations" and the Alcione record "The Cult of Kukulkan". A series of records featuring Thomas' bass playing are currently being released, and a live tour is planned. Thomas also spends his free time making videos showcasing his playing, including original playing videos and cover videos, which can be found on his personal YouTube channel.

Thomas has a bachelor's degree in applied mathematics with an emphasis in statistics, but is currently pursuing a career in plumbing. His goal is to become a licensed plumber and open his own store. While he enjoys a steady physical job, his ultimate dream is to pursue a career playing music.

Donald Waugh

Solo bassist/guitarist to perform on cruise ships...

I was born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica. At the age of 17, I found my brother-in-law's bass guitar and taught myself a few bass lines by the next morning. From there my passion for bass and music in general grew.

After college, he began to seriously consider a career in music. I studied visual arts, jazz theory, and bass at the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts in Kingston, Jamaica. During my studies, my influences included playing in various bands such as the Javier Latin Jazz Band, the Jill Gibson Trio, and the Kathy Brown Band.
I toured all over Jamaica.

During my final year of college, I started my own band called Airplai®. For the next four years, I devoted myself to the Airplai® Band. Then I was approached by Zijam Studios to audition for their band, The Jolly Boys. This was no easy task, as I needed to learn to play the banjo. I arrived early for the audition and taught myself how to play the banjo in three hours with the help of Mr. Google. Over the next year, I toured Europe, the Caribbean, and the Middle East with the Jolly Boys. While with the Jolly Boys, I produced, co-wrote, composed, and collaborated on the "Quantum Reggae" album project.
For the Quantum Reggae album project, I collaborated with songwriter Jim Belleau and musician/singer/songwriter Maroghini.

I am the owner and founder of Airplai® Productions, where I produce albums, compose, arrange, edit videos, film music, jingles, and more.
That year my wife and I settled in Canada and started a family.

Since settling permanently in Canada, I have refocused my attention on music production and composition under my own company, Airplai Productions. I continue to perform locally and teach music/music production.
In 2014, he released his first solo album, Just Passing Through, on the Airplai® Productions label. This project was 10 years in the making. His second album, Feel Brand New, was released in late 2016. His latest album, Early Days, was released in the summer of 2018.
I am very excited to announce that my fourth album is currently in the works and will be available soon! All of my albums are available for download now on iTunes, GooglePlay, and Amazon.
My passion for music is only growing and I'm curious to see where it goes from here!
