I apologize for always talking about cases, but this time I’d like to discuss the storage case for the Courtois Nakaryakov model.
The AC156NR, which is also Sergei Nakaryakov’s signature model, is characterized by its four valves and a massive bell rivaling that of a 195mm tenor trombone. While its rich, deep sound is captivating, you don’t see it very often, do you? This article is dedicated to those very few people who own one.
Due to its overwhelmingly large bell size, it’s one of those models that’s a real challenge for trumpet players—one that “won’t fit in most cases”—but today I’d like to introduce a case that actually does fit it.

It’s a soft case that looks like a travel bag, but it offers an enormous amount of storage space, so I highly recommend it—as long as the size doesn’t bother you.
Believe it or not, it actually fits two flugelhorns and two trumpets. It would also work well for storing one of each, along with mutes, a music stand, and other accessories.

This might be the No. 1 choice for a case that’s easy to carry.
Although it’s a soft case, it’s reasonably sturdy and has plenty of storage space in the exterior pockets. It takes a little ingenuity to fit the mutes inside, but it seems to have the second-highest storage capacity after the PROTEC C248.
Since the third slide touches the wall of the case, you’ll need to be careful about external pressure or consider how you pack it.
Additionally, by using the separately sold Taco Insert, you can store an extra cornet—though it’s a bit tight.

Honestly, I was absolutely amazed that two of them fit in this size.
Since they can only be stored in the XL model, they’re rarely available in Japan, and the lead time is quite long—6 to 8 months. We occasionally order them at our store, so if you’re interested, please feel free to contact us.

This is sort of a bonus item, but I was able to fit it into a single hard case.
It’s a bit of a tight fit size-wise. This might be a good option for those who find carrying the official case too inconvenient.
