Hello! I’m Oda, the bassist.

This might come out of the blue, but have you heard of the NAMM Show?

NAMM is the world’s largest music instrument trade show, held every year in late January in the U.S.
Its official name is the National Association of Music Merchants, abbreviated as NAMM.

Let’s go back to January 2024.
This year’s NAMM Show was held once again in Anaheim, California.
In fact, Advance Guitars Store Manager Inoue attended the event alongside our president!

One of the brands they encountered there was MGBass Guitars.

With their flashy wood grain and unconventional body shapes.
Amid the countless instruments lining the halls of the NAMM Show, they really stood out.

Actually, our repair technician, Mr. Tanaka, had been curious about these MGBass guitars for a while.

“Go buy this for me~”

he asked Store Manager Inoue to run an errand for him.

What a huge impact!

This is it.

It’s a model made specifically for NAMM 2024, featuring back-eye burl wood.
Aside from the striking top wood, it has a body shape I’ve never seen before, wooden knobs and tuner buttons—oh, and it has a PJ pickup configuration…

Just looking at the photos, my first impression was a mix of confusion and curiosity: “What on earth is this!?”

A little time has passed, and it’s now March 2024.

I, Oda, who had been in charge of electric guitars and amps since joining the company, have taken on the role of Bass specialist.

(That solemn expression in the thumbnail is hilarious no matter how many times I see it.)

I’m finally starting to get the hang of working at a used music store.

One day, Mr. Matsui, the store manager at TCGAKKI, told me this:

“Oda, you’re in charge of MGBass starting today.”

“Yes.”

I had a vague feeling this was coming.
Being in charge of basses at TCGAKKI means I’m responsible for every single bass we carry.

And just like that, very suddenly, I was entrusted with a project to handle New basses from a workshop in the U.S.

Of course, I won’t be doing this alone—I’ll be working hard alongside my team members from here on out.

So, here we go.
I plan to write little by little about my adventures as the Bass specialist, including this MGBass project, so I hope you’ll enjoy reading them whenever you have a spare moment!
