Roscoe, a boutique brand with a workshop in North Carolina, USA. Handcrafted by a small, elite team, annual production is limited to just around 200 units. Consequently, distribution in Japan is limited and brand recognition is low, but its clear sound and lack of harshness make it a favorite among fusion and R&B artists.
This model is part of the SKB series, characterized by its slightly smaller body. It has a shorter horn and smaller body than the SKB3006, likely based on the SKB5006 body shape.
It features beautiful quilted burl maple for the top and Spanish cedar for the back. The neck is bolt-on construction, a three-piece maple/purpleheart design. The fingerboard is cocobolo with inlaid fret lines. Both the pickup and preamp are Bartolini. Controls include volume, balancer, and a 3-band EQ.
The sound is clear yet conveys the warmth of dry wood, with the fretless design, wood composition, and electronics working exceptionally well together. Highly recommended for those seeking a premium-sounding 6-string fretless bass!
