[Features]
Haines, the renowned American brand that laid the foundation for the modern flute. Among these, the so-called "Old Haines" models produced from the late 1950s to the 1960s are still spoken of as something special. This instrument bears serial number 31xxx and was made in 1961. It is one from the era many players call the "golden age."
The charm of the Old Haynes lies not in volume or power. It's the sweet, soft, and somehow elegant resonance that rises the instant you breathe into it. The mid-to-low register possesses particular richness, singing naturally right through to the end of a phrase. While its direction differs from that of a "powerful, resonant sound," its tone makes you want to listen intently to the music itself.Though a regular model, this instrument features a slightly thicker tube body that produces a settled, composed resonance. It's not an instrument that plays itself like many modern flutes; rather, it responds precisely to the care and control you invest in its sound.
The reason why masters like Rampal and others around the world were drawn to Haynes flutes of this era cannot be explained by specifications alone.
"Today's Haynes flutes are good. But what I'm searching for is 'that sound from back then.'" For those who feel this way, this vintage Haynes flute is sure to be a special encounter.
The romance unique to vintage instruments, combined with the reassurance of proper maintenance.
For those who choose their instrument based on its sound, this is one we quietly recommend.
