The Gibson J-45 was born in 1942. As time progressed, the J-45 underwent various changes, which is precisely why it remains a popular guitar today, alongside Martin's D-28.
This Gibson J-45 "The 59" model faithfully recreates a 1959 J-45, 17 years after the original's debut in 1942.
It was crafted by profiling an actual 1959 J-45, faithfully reproducing the headstock, neck shape, pickguard, bracing, and more. Regarding the bridge, adjustable saddles became an option starting in 1956 and were standard by around 1960. Since this model features an adjustable saddle, it suggests the 1959 J-45 used for profiling had an optional adjustable saddle.
It also features a large pickguard, scalloped X-bracing, and Kluson triple-lock tuners. While non-scalloped bracing became standard from the late 1950s onward, this instrument suggests the original model used scalloped bracing before that transition.
True to its nature as a guitar suited for strumming, this model produces outstanding harmony, combining a bright, penetrating sound with pleasantly crisp bass tones.
Experience the evolution of the J-45 through its history and enjoy playing it.
