The 1860 Custom Balladeer is a thin-bodied acoustic with Ovation's signature "Super Shallow Cutaway" body.
It is lightweight when played standing up, fits well to the body when held, and has a density of sound that is unimaginable from its thinness. All in all, the design is gentle to the player's body and sincere to the music.

The body material is Lyrachord, the symbol of Ovation.

This special resin material, which originated in aviation technology, is strong and lightweight, and concentrates the vibration energy on the top board to suppress unwanted ringing.

Its top board is made of Sitka spruce. The sound rises with brightness and speed.
The delicate treble extension is pleasant and responds flexibly to both chord work and arpeggios.
In addition, the rosewood fingerboard and mahogany neck, combined with the exquisitely thick grip shape, maintain a balance that allows both chord and scale playing to come and go without discomfort.

On the electric side, the instrument is equipped with Ovation's traditional FET-3 preamp.
Despite its simple controls, it provides the necessary and sufficient tone variation, and is known for its ease of use on the line. This preamp offers both flexibility in sound creation and practicality in live performance.

Above all, it is the sound that deserves special mention.
The thin body might make you think that the volume would be modest, but in fact, the sound image is strangely forward. The mids have an appropriate thickness, and instead of blending into the ensemble, it comes forward with a contour.
This is precisely due to the unique acoustic design created by Ovation's unique relaccord construction and matching top.
