Yanagisawa S-99BL 1993 Model
Purchase Price

Staff Comment
"Black lacquer finish saxophones tend to be less popular with buyers due to their selective nature regarding situations and players, often leading to lower appraisal values. However, our store takes the opposite approach. We highly valued its rarity and unique character."

Brand We Buy
YAMAHA YAS-62 2016 Model
Purchase Price
¥165,000
Staff Comment
"Yamaha's alto saxophone 62 series has been manufactured for over 40 years, from the first generation to the latest model. Therefore, the appraisal value varies depending on the year and condition. However, we are now purchasing them at significantly higher prices than just a few years ago. This appraisal value also exceeds the used sales price from 10 years ago."

Selmer Paris SERIE II 1991 Model
Purchase Price
¥515,000
Staff Comment
"The SERIE II, a staple series of Selmer saxophones produced for over 40 years, underwent repeated minor changes, resulting in distinct characteristics by year. Although it required significant adjustments, we maximized the evaluation of the product's potential unique to this era."
April 17, 2025
Brand Purchased
C.G.CONN 10M 1936 Model
Purchase Price
¥580,000
Staff Comment
"While Selmer dominates the vintage saxophone market, our store also focuses on selling vintage saxophones from other brands. Among these, C.G.CONN tenor saxophones are particularly scarce, and those in especially good condition are rare.We purchased this instrument at the price it was bought for at another store several years ago."

Purchase Brand
WOODSTONE WST-AF Made in 2012
220,000 yen
Staff Comment
"WOODSTONE saxophones are a brand that has significantly elevated the quality of Asian-made saxophones through solid design and strict production control. While it required an overhaul, there was no major accident history. We purchased it as a trade-in for a vintage saxophone purchased from our store inventory."
May 3, 2024
Brand Purchased
Selmer Paris MARK VII 1975
Purchase Price
¥490,000
Staff Comment
"While Selmer MARK VIIs (Sevens) used to typically sell for less than half the price of MARK VI (Six) models, we offer high prices for Sevens at our store. The discoloration of the lacquer finish is not a negative—we viewed it as adding character and gave it a positive evaluation!"
March 4 , 2025
Brand Purchased
Buffet Crampon S-1 , 1987 Model
Purchase Price
¥220,000
Staff Comment
"While Buffet Crampon is a household name in clarinets, they produce excellent, lesser-known masterpieces in saxophones. Though nearly 40 years old, requiring replacement of pads and corks, the body showed no damage, indicating it was well-cared for."

"Among vintage saxophones, A. Selmer (American Selmer) is experiencing a particularly rapid surge in market value. This owner acquired theirs about 15 years ago, and we purchased it for 200,000 yen above their original purchase price."
Customer Feedback
Experiences from Customers Who Actually Used Our Service
Mr./Ms. B, Kyoto Prefecture
"I bought this New with my first bonus 30 years ago. I transferred jobs in my third year at the company. I had to quit the band I was in and ended up leaving music altogether. This time, I consulted them hoping the funds could help purchase an instrument for my son, who plays trumpet in a wind ensemble. I'd heard instrument prices had risen, but I never imagined they'd offer a buyback price so close to what I originally paid. Thanks to that, I was able to significantly upgrade my son's trumpet beyond what I'd initially planned."

Tokyo, K-san
"I've loved jazz since my student days, and I'm a huge fan of Charlie Parker in particular. Hearing this was Parker's model, I acquired it five years ago. However, it handled differently from my usual Selmer, and I couldn't get the hang of it, so I decided to sell it.Other shops refused to buy vintage saxophones unless the neck was original, leaving me at a loss. But Okubo Gakki showed interest, saying the neck was rare, and bought it from me."

Saitama Prefecture, Mr./Ms. Y
"A fellow player I'd performed with for many years passed away, and his family asked me to sell his instrument. Naturally, getting the highest possible price would be ideal, but the family also wished for it to be properly cared for and played. So, I decided to find a specialist shop that could thoroughly service it. I visited several places, but the buyback prices were all pretty similar.I decided to sell it here because they provided the best service."

Okayama Prefecture, Customer S
"I loved it during the trial and decided to buy it, but when I tried it in my usual setting, it felt different. Since it was a big purchase, I tried hard to adjust to the instrument, but I couldn't shake that feeling, so I decided to consult them. I knew returns weren't possible after more than six months, but they took it back for an amount close to the purchase price."

Frequently Asked Questions About Saxophones
Questions We Often Receive from Customers
Q1. My vintage saxophone looks worn out. Does it still have value?
A1. Yes, depending on the model, it can be very valuable. Especially models like the Selmer Mark VI can still command high appraisal values even with chipped lacquer. Don't judge solely by appearance—please consult us.
Q2. I replaced the neck from the original part to a custom one. How will this affect the appraisal?
A2. We will thoroughly evaluate the value of both the body and the neck. Popular custom necks can sometimes add value to the appraisal. If you still have the original neck, please be sure to bring it along.
Q3. Does the presence of "carvings" on the bell affect the appraisal value?
A3. Yes, it does. Even for the same model, instruments featuring beautiful hand-carved designs are highly sought after and represent a significant factor in increasing the appraisal value.
Q4. The pads are in poor condition and difficult to play because it hasn't been used for many years. Can you still buy it?
A4. Yes, absolutely. Pads are consumable parts, so deterioration is natural. Our repair team will appraise it with replacement in mind, so please bring it in as-is.
Q5. Will getting a full overhaul (complete adjustment) before selling increase the price?
A5. No, that is not necessary. It is rare for the appraisal value to increase by more than the cost of repairs you incurred. Since we handle maintenance, selling it as-is is more advantageous for you.
Q6. Is the appraisal free?
A6. Yes, appraisals are completely free. You may cancel after the appraisal.
Q7. Do you buy older instruments?
A7. Yes, we purchase instruments in good condition regardless of their age.
Q8. Can you buy it even if it lacks accessories?
A8. We can buy it even without accessories, but this may affect the appraisal value.
Q.9 What areas do you cover for in-home appraisals?
A9. We primarily cover the Kanto region, but depending on the situation, we can travel from Hokkaido to Okinawa, and even overseas. There is no charge for travel expenses.
Q10. What are the maximum and minimum purchase prices?
A10. We can provide a rough estimate if you send us the instrument's details and photos beforehand.
Q11. Can you take it even if it's broken (even for 0 yen)?
A11. Please provide details about the instrument, and we can tell you if we can take it.
Q12: Do I need an appointment?
A12: No appointment is necessary. You can come anytime during business hours.
