A different choice from the violinBass: the Hofner sound
Since its founding in 1887, Hofner has crafted violins and guitars. The ViolinBass, released in 1956, is beloved by many musicians, including Paul McCartney.
The ClubBass(500/2) is one of Hofner's signature models, second only to the ViolinBass(500/1). Its single-cutaway body features a hollow-body construction, characterized by a slightly larger body compared to the ViolinBass.
It features a spruce top, with the body sides and back made of flamed maple, and the neck constructed as a three-piece maple and beech (oak) neck.
The full hollow-body short scale is lightweight and easy to handle, delivering a unique acoustic-like resonance and excellent attack when paired with flatwound strings. Its larger body size compared to the ViolinBass makes it easier to cradle and offers excellent balance for seated playing. This model is recommended for those who love Hofner's sound but hesitate over the ViolinBass due to its strong association with Paul McCartney!
This instrument shows neck bowing within the range where the truss rod is ineffective. Currently, the string height at the 12th fret is about 3mm, with no buzzing or muffled notes occurring. Please note there is no warranty on the neck.
