Founded in Canada in 1988, Godin is a brand that continues to evolve, seeking an acoustic, natural sound despite its electric construction.
Around 1990, the brand released a model developed in collaboration with L.R.Baggs, a pickup and preamp brand. This instrument is one of those models: a 4-string fretless model.
The headstock features the Godin and L.R.Baggs logos, and is equipped with L.R.Baggs piezo pickups and preamp. The body, with a spruce top and mahogany back, achieves a thin profile that rivals the playability of a solid-body electric guitar. It incorporates a "mechanical harp system" designed to maximize resonance within the limited space.
A finger rest that extends from the neck to the bridge is standard equipment. Unlike standard acoustic guitars with a soundhole, you can rest your fingers just as you would on an electric guitar, resulting in a remarkably stress-free playing experience.
While the unamplified sound is almost indistinguishable from an electric guitar, it produces a solid acoustic sound when plugged into an amp. The 3-band EQ offers a natural response, allowing you to fine-tune the sound. Another major appeal is that you don’t have to worry about feedback.
