Explanation
"Pre-war Martin Revived for Today"
The D-28 produced in the 1930s is known as "pre-war" in Martin's history and captivates many fans.
In fact, the appreciation for pre-war models as we know it today began around the 1970s.
Martin began producing the HD-28, a reissue of the pre-war D-28, starting in 1976.
As indicated by the HD in the model name (H=Herringbone, D=Dreadnought), the HD-28 features herringbone purfling, whereas the standard D-28 has multi-stripe purfling.
The V-shaped pattern resembles a herring's bones, hence the name "herringbone."
Although specifications changed to Howard Shifted Bracing after 2017, this model retains the pre-change specifications.
Consequently, it features deep bass and lively highs.

-While it shows some playing wear and minor dents, it has been carefully used without cracks. Evidence includes an enlarged end hole and an added strap pin at the neck heel.

- Sound is clear with no muffled notes or buzzing; plays well.
- String height at 12th fret: 6th string side 2.1mm, 1st string side 1.5mm
- Saddle relief: approx. 2.5mm to 2.0mm
