Martin / 1992 HD-28 CTM LSH (Large Sound Hole)
The "herringbone" purfling and "zig-zag" backstrip of this HD-28 capture the essence of pre-1940s Martin.
This HD-28 has been further customized and features a large sound hole.
Normally, the diameter is about 101mm, but this one is 111mm.
It certainly seems to have more presence if you pay attention to it.
Furthermore, there is no inlay on the fingerboard, as there should be.
This look alone may give you an idea of what the person who had this guitar custom-made by Martin at the time had in mind.
That's right.
It reminds us of the 1935 D-28 "Antique" that was once owned by Clarence White, a leading bluegrass guitarist, and was passed down to Tony Rice.
(Actually, it has fingerboard binding and a brimmed neck, but we are sure there must have been a thought for him.)
The neck profile is round and thick.
The shape makes you feel "it's very comfortable to hold" the moment you hold it.
The sound has a core sound.
You can enjoy a firm tone even when playing a single note.

- The neck cannot be adjusted by truss rod due to SQ neck.
- The top of the bridge has been slightly shaved, but the thickness is firm and visually comfortable.
- There are no cracks or crack repairs, and it is in good appearance condition considering its age of over 30 years.
- The neck is straight, with no chatter or sound blockage.
- There are fret replacements.
- String height on the 12th fret: 2.5mm on the 6th string side, 2.0mm on the 1st string side
- Saddle protrusion: approx. 1.5mm to 2.0mm
- End pin portion is extended
- There is a crack in the attached case.
