This is a compandor that produces a strong comp effect. It can be used as a limiter without making the tone too sweet!

The Maxon 'Compressor' from the same period is characterized by its gentle and natural effect with a circuit employing a photo coupler, but this 'Compandor' provides a stronger comp effect. The tone is not overly sweet and can be used as a limiter. It uses RCA's CA3080 (can-type) OTA-IC, which is also used in early MXR Dynacomps, and is an early version without LED indicator or external DC jack. Please try the extremely comfortable comp effect unique to this model.
