The HD-28 was released in 1976 as Martin's herringbone D-28 model.
In the 1980s, Martin and Tokai Gakki, the Japanese distributor of the D-28, collaborated to release the HD-28 Custom Pre War Reissue, which was designed to reproduce the pre-war D-28 down to the finest detail.
The HD-28 Custom Pre War Reissue is a reproduction of a Pre-War D-28 with scalloped X-bracing, long saddle, and ivoroid binding, The HD-28 Custom Pre War D-28 Reissue features the essence of the Pre War D-28 in terms of decoration, such as ivoroid binding, tortoiseshell pickguard, and so on.
At the time, only a few dozen were distributed in Japan. It is a miracle that this guitar has found its way back to our store.
What is even more amazing is that this is a first owner guitar. It has been cared for by a single user for over 40 years. It is not easy to use in the modern world, but it is also notable for its Morris CP-2 contact pickups, which were available as an option at the time.
Thanks to the care it has received, it has been kept in very good condition with no cracks. It is not often that you get a chance to come across a D-28 with such a story to tell.

[Condition / Modifications] - The neck and wood have been thoroughly inspected by a craftsman specializing in acoustic guitars, and no repairs are needed. - The neck is straight and there are no chattering or clogging issues. - String height on the 12th fret: 2.5 mm on the 6th string side, 2.0 mm on the 1st string side - Saddle protrusion: approx. 2 to 2.5 mm - Saddle replacement available - Strap pins installed - There is a pickup installed. Passive contact pickups of the time, so the output is very small. Please note that there is a possibility of no output depending on the compatibility with the shield.
