Passive JJ-4 with rare mahogany body!
The JJ-4 series has been used by many musicians such as Larry Graham. This model has evolved with a wide range of variations without changing the basic concept.
The JJ-4 is characterized by the slanted front PU. This arrangement makes the slap thumping sound thicker and the pull sound snappier, and it also has the advantage that the space near the neck on the 1st and 2nd string side is wider than usual, making it easier to slap!
This model is a passive type with mahogany body and ebony fingerboard, which is rare for JJ-4.
The pickups have been replaced with Bartolini 9S, and the controls are 2Vol/1Tone/PU selector SW.
There are some dents and peeling paint on the side of the fretboard, but there are no scratches and no playability issues.
The sound is impressive whether fingerpicked, slapped, or picked.
Unlike the ash and walnut bodies that are standard for the JJ-4, the treble is gentle and the midrange is sticky.
Recommended for those looking for a cohesive sounding passive jazz instrument!
