During the period 1970~1981, a fretless version was available.
Ash body, rose fretboard without fretline. This model has recently had its fingerboard coated at a workshop in Japan.
This unit has serial numbers on the head and joint plate. The serial number of the head is from mid-'76 to early '77, and the serial number of the joint plate is from early '76 to mid '76. The head is serialized from mid '76 to early '77, and the joint plate is serialized from early '76 to mid '76.
This is the period when the serial number was shifted from the joint plate engraving to the head serial number, but since we cannot find any double serial number, it is possible that the joint plate has been replaced.
Each date is neck '77, body '77, and pickups '76.
The ash body and coated fingerboard give it a tighter and more defined sound than the alder body and non-coated fingerboard.
