Gibson / 1939-1940 J-55 (Jumbo 55)
Rare pre-war model, Jumbo 55 early model.
Rare model J-55 / Jumbo 55 was produced only for a short period from 1939 to 1943, and was released as a higher model of J-35 released in 1936.
As the round-shouldered Jumbo series, this model was also the prototype for the well-known J-45.
With basic specifications such as spruce top, X-bracing, mahogany sides and back, and mahogany neck, the Jumbo 55 is classified into two types: an early model produced from '39 to '41, and a late model produced from '41 to '43.
This Jumbo 55 is an early model, featuring a "stair-step" head, ebony fingerboard/bridge, long terrace pickguard, mustachioed mustachioed bridge (ADJ), and 22 frets.
The bridge has independent adjustable saddles (made of bone) for each string.
This is truly a museum-quality gem that tells a story of the long history and legend of Gibson, a major guitar manufacturer.
The neck, which has a good grip, is easy to play, and it resonates a bass-heavy bone sound with a percussive attack that may be attributed to the separate type ADJ bridge saddle.
It is like holding the history of Gibson itself in one's hands, and it is impressive.
