Godin was born in Canada in 1988, and has continued to evolve in pursuit of a raw, acoustic sound despite its electric construction.
This model A5 Ultra Fletless is a bass with the same body style that has been popular for elegats and other instruments.
The body is made of spruce and silver leaf maple, with a maple neck and ebony fingerboard, and the pickups are an original Lace Sensor magnetic PU and an RMC Custom piezo PU for each string.
It is also equipped with a 13-pin GK cable output jack, allowing the use of Roland's GK products.
The chambered body gives a sweet, full, boxy sound that cannot be experienced with a solid body.
Controls are master volume and magnetic PU tone on the body side. A slider on the top side of the body controls the balance/volume of the piezo PU, 3-band EQ, and volume of the GK equipment. The selector switch is a middle frequency.
The output jacks are also divided into a piezo/magnetic mix jack, a magnetic only jack, and a GK jack, each of which can be output to a different amplifier.
Although it can be used in a variety of ways, we think the biggest appeal of this model is its "easy-to-use acoustic bass sound," which is simply an electric bass equipped with a magnetic and piezo PU.
The Godin's characteristic of low feedback is a great advantage for acoustic basses that are often used in band ensembles, and it directly leads to ease of use in the field.
The thinness of the body also makes it less uncomfortable when switching from an electric bass to an acoustic bass, making it one of the few "acoustic basses that can be handled like an electric bass" options that we recommend!
