Premium Customized with Super 400 neck and Hakaranda body at the factory.
Gibson / 1956 J-200 Custom with Super 400 Neck/Brazilian Rosewood Body
Very rare J-200 custom built in the 50's.
Built to the Super 400 neck specs, Gibson's top-of-the-line archtop model. This is a 1956 J-200.
In addition, Brazilian rosewood was used for the body in this pre-war spec.
It is a premium piece that can rarely be seen.
The orange label used since '55 has a "Custom" notation on it.
You can see that it was specially customized at the Kalamazoo factory.
Such customization can sometimes be seen on the top models from the 60s, such as Hummingbird and Dove, which were also made by Vintage. These customizations are occasionally seen and are rarely distributed as an item that excites vintage collectors.
The flagship model of Gibson's archtop guitars, the "Super 400," also known as the "King of Jazz Guitars,"
and the "King of Flat Tops," the "Super 400," also known as the "King of Jazz Guitars," are still in use today. The "King of the Flat Tops" and the "King of the Flat Tops", the "J-200"
, still reigns as the king of acoustic guitars, and the matching of king and king is a fascinating sight to behold.
We are honored to be able to offer such a reguendary piece in this day and age.
The finish on the top of the body retains a strong contrast between black and red, giving it a very clean look.
The spruce grain glimpsed over the black finish is also very nice.
The body back is made of quarter-sawn Hakaranda. The body sides are also very cool with Hakaranda-like lines.
The current Gibson Montana factory does not handle Brazilian rosewood, so this is a spec that can only be experienced in vintage guitars.
The pickguard is a thicker type with a late 50's flower pattern. The Hakaranda bridge has a great line. The bridge pins have been replaced with wood pins with pearls embedded in them.
The neck set on this body brings out the maximum of glamour.
The large head with split diamond inlay is equipped with Cruson seal fast tuners, and the fingerboard cell is 7-ply.
The neck flame is also clearly shaded and has beauty and power.
This is a vintage J-200 with the clarity of the Hakaranda sound, a gem of a guitar.
