The L-0, released in 1926, and the small-body L-1, which was a departure from the traditional archtop design, were the first Gibson flat-top acoustic guitars. This was followed by Gibson's first artist model, the Nick Lucas in 1928, the L-2 in 1929, and the L-00 in 1932. The neck joint was shifted to the current standard 14 frets, and the L-Century with pearloid fingerboard, released as a commemorative model for the Chicago Centennial in 1933, was the last of the body sizes to be mainstreamed by the J-series models.
The history of the small body resumed with the LG-2 released in 1942, followed by the LG-3 in 1946, the LG-3 in 1946, and the LG-3 in 1967. The LG series was followed by the LG-3 in '46 and the LG-1 in '47. The LG series had a body shape similar to that of a classic guitar and a 14-fret joint neck. The LG series was followed by the LG-3 in '47 and the LG-1 in '47, all mahogany models with a body shape similar to that of classic guitars and a 14-fret joint neck. After the release of the LG-0, an all-mahogany model with simplified decoration, in 1958, the series was succeeded by the B series starting with the B-25 released in 1962.
The Gibson small body is closely associated with the beginning of the history of flat-top acoustic guitars. With its excellent fit and moderate volume, this guitar has gained strong popularity as a guitar for blues and light chord work.
Made in '54, this guitar has a pleasantly dry sound. This vintage guitar is very dry and spins a dead sound suitable for blues. Light and clear treble tone is really nice. There are some light cracks on the top, so we offer this guitar at a reasonable price. Recommended.
Top/Spruce, S&B/Mahogany, Neck/Mahogany, Fingerboard & Bridge/Hakaranda, Tuners/Original Crewdson, Small Pickguard.
This '55 model has a dynamic sound with a core despite its small body. This guitar is truly suited for blues, and its dry, earthy charm can be found only in GIBSON. There are some cracks and repairs on the top (sound hole) and fingerboard joints, and a little bulge under the bridge on the top, but it does not affect the playability.
Top/Spruce, S&B/Mahogany, Neck/Mahogany, Fingerboard & Bridge/Hakaranda, Tuners/Original Crewson, Large Pickguard.
Vintage with faded cherry sunburst color. The sound is light but has a strong presence, with powerful single-note resonance that can be used for finger playing. The dry body gives it a dry tone that is also superb. Converted from a plastic bridge to an ebony bridge, this is a highly recommended player's condition.
Top / Spruce, S&B / Mahogany, Neck / Mahogany, Fingerboard / Hakaranda, Bridge / Ebony (replacement: slotted saddle), Nut width / approx. 42.0mm, Tuners / Original chrome, Large pickguard, Ladder bracing, Cherry sunburst color specification. Comes with semi-hard case.
Made in '65 in natural color with logo pickguard. Although the volume is not as high as that of the J-45, the tasteful, dry sound that comes through to the front is a charm of this body shape, adjustable saddle, and X-bracing specification. The unique dry tone when played with the fingernail is superb. Recommended.
Top / Spruce, S&B / Mahogany, Neck / Mahogany, Fingerboard / Jacaranda, Bridge / Jacaranda (top belly), Adjustable saddle (wood saddle), Tuners / Crewson (triple, white buttons), Large pickguard (with logo), X Bracing, natural color. Comes with semi-hard case.
100th anniversary item made by Len Ferguson. This Custom Shop model was made in 1929, when the arch top was replaced by a flat top. The long saddle gives a powerful and responsive sound, and the small body has a dynamic resonance. Rare item in good condition. Highly recommended.
