The body shape adopted by this model, known as "Dreadnought," is used in guitars released by numerous brands.
Martin named this body size after the British battleship HMS Dreadnought.
While using spruce for the top, its rich and powerful sound perfectly matches the sound of singer-songwriter and vocal-driven music.
It features a black pickguard.
Indian rosewood with quarter-sawn grain is used for the sides and back.
The D-28 is characterized by its use of this rosewood.
The back strip features the checkerboard pattern, a design carried over since around 1947.
The fingerboard is made of ebony with dot position markers.
The neck is crafted from select hardwood.
It features a thinner neck profile, ideal for aggressive chord work.
