Martin / 1997 HD-28VR
Pre-war Martin circa 1930-1939 brought to the present day!

The D-28 was introduced in 1931 as Marin's flagship model.
Around 1970, prewar Martin models became highly regarded, and Martin began to produce the HD series as a reissue of the prewar models.
The HD-28 was introduced in 1976.
H=Herring Born, D=Dreadnought. The D-28 around 1930 had a herringbone purfling instead of the multi-striped purfling of the current D-28.

The HD-28 was an excellent reproduction of the specifications of the time, but the HD-28VR was improved to reproduce a more realistic prewar model.
The HD-28VR comes even closer to the specifications of the prewar D-28 with its ford-shifted scalloped bracing, tortoiseshell pickguard, herringbone purfling, diamond square inlays, long saddle, and WEVERLY pegs.

While 1930s Martin used steel T-bar rods, the HD-28 series has adjustable rods to allow for truss rod adjustment, making it vintage-chic yet safe to handle.
Please try the HD-28VR, which is full of Martin's history and technology.
