Gibson / 1992 J-200
The creation of this model dates back to the prewar period.
It is known that Gibson teamed up with Ray Whitley, a popular Western movie actor and singer, to create this guitar in 1937. At the time, it was considered effective to produce and release guitars featuring popular movie actors as a way to promote new guitars. The flashy decorations and large body may have been designed to catch people's attention.
Since its release in 1938, it has been loved by many musicians, including Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan, George Harrison (The Beatles), Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin), Pete Townshend (The Who), Emmylou Harris, The Edge (U2), and Ron Wood (Rolling Stones).
The model we are introducing this time is a 1992 Montana factory model.
This 30-year-old warrior has checkered paintwork and exudes a very sophisticated and dignified presence.
The sound has the lows and reverberation of a rosewood body rather than the crisp sound of maple.
This guitar, which gives off a slightly Martin Dreadnought-like impression, is sure to be extremely useful in recording situations.
