A vintage StingRay from Pre-Fender!
After Leo Fender left Fender in 1972, he founded Music Man.
Released by Music Man in 1976, the StingRay is the instrument that introduced active basses to the world. It remains a staple model to this day, continuing to be sold with only minor changes, retaining its original shape and style.
This unit features a 4-point neck joint and an over-the-bridge design.
The pot date is marked as 1981.
It has an ash body with a maple fingerboard. Its signature feature is the flat body shape without an elbow cut. The powerful sound with its distinct, well-defined contours is a signature sound only achievable with the StingRay.
Controls consist of 1 Volume and a 2-Band EQ, with the EQ offering only Bass/Treble boost. It's recommended to use this more for character shaping than for detailed sound sculpting at your fingertips!
While its usability differs from current models with boost/cut EQ, its sound is distinct.
It retains the StingRay's characteristic attack while also exhibiting a woody resonance from over 40 years of aging, giving it a mature sound.
It's in player's condition, but there are no issues with playability.
A rare find on the market. This is a must-try for anyone who finds the StingRay's peakiness a bit much!
