Rick Turner Guitars is a brand by Rick Turner, who has been contributing to the development of the musical instrument industry since the 1960s.
Rick Turner is also known as a co-founder of the Alembic Corporation, a luthier who established Rick Turner Guitars in 1979 and joined Gibson in 1988. Although he sadly passed away in 2022, Rick Turner's models continue to be produced and passed down to the next generation.
The Model 1 Bass with Rotating Pickup and Parametric EQ is the first original model built by Rick Turner after he became independent.
This pickup has a unique structure that changes the character of the bass and treble strings by rotating in relation to the strings. The pickup is held in place by a single bolt from the back of the body, which can be tightened to secure the pickup in place.
Another unique control is the parametric equalizer, where the center knob specifies the bandwidth and the outer knob boosts it.
The sound is based on a woody tone, but the bass is not blurred, and the contours are clear and clean.
The unique controls may take some time to get used to, but once you master them, you will be able to create a wide range of sounds, and they will show you various expressions depending on the song or technique you play.
The Model 1 Bass is rarely distributed in Japan.
