The Dove was introduced in 1962 as a higher-end version of the Hummingbird, featuring square shoulders. This particular instrument is an extremely rare example with a Florentine cutaway, similar to the CF-100E. It is likely either a prototype or a one-off custom order. Based on its serial number and other specifications, it is estimated to have been manufactured around 1966. The plain tortoiseshell pickguard is also a distinctive feature.
It features a spruce top, maple back and sides, a one-piece mahogany neck, a 25 1/2" scale length, non-scalloped X-bracing, and Kluson VX-501 nickel tuners, commonly known as "waffle-back" tuners. The subdued sunburst finish adds to its rich, vintage charm. The crown inlay on the headstock and double parallelogram position markers create a gorgeous appearance. The T.O.M. saddle is a characteristic feature of 60s Doves, and the dove-shaped inlays on both sides are beautiful.
The tone is bright and lively, yet possesses a solid core with excellent separation.
