"The Other J-45"
When the J-45 debuted in 1945, it was offered only in sunburst finish. Breaking that mold, the J-50 arrived in 1947 with identical specifications to the J-45 but clad in a natural finish.
ーTop Wood Unique to Natural-Color Models
This instrument, sharing the same rounded shoulder body as the J-45, features a spruce top.
Since the grain pattern of the spruce is crucial for the natural color finish, this model utilizes spruce with a fine, straight-grained figure.
The rosette features a two-ring purfling.
The pickguard was changed to a thicker, reddish pickguard starting in 1964.
Mahogany is used for the sides and back.
You can see that wood with beautiful grain is used.
The fingerboard is rosewood with dot position markers.
The neck is made of mahogany, featuring a comfortably thick neck shape and a narrow neck specification.
The upper bout bridge features an adjustable saddle made of matte ceramic material.
The headstock features a gold Gibson modern logo silk-screen.
The bell-shaped truss rod cover is one-piece.
KLUSON DELUXE single-line triple tuners are fitted.
These are the same as those used on the J-45.
This instrument boasts exceptionally subtle weather checking across the body and headstock, making it a highly desirable, non-cracked specimen.
