Violin bass with solid body!
Greco is a Japanese brand that has many fans overseas as Japan Vintage.
The "VB series" of violin basses is one of Greco's representative models.
Unlike other VB series (hollow body/short scale), this VBS-1200 has a solid body and long scale.
The body is made of monkey pot top and mahogany back, and the neck is made of maple and mahogany.
The bridge is dropped, and the binding is also wood binding consisting of three pieces, showing the attention to detail as the top model of the VB series at that time.
The controls are Vol/PU Balancer/Tone, and compared to conventional violin basses, it is simple and easy to handle, making it an all-around usable specification.
The solid body long scale specification gives it a completely different sound character from the hollow body violin basses!
Compared to conventional violin basses, it has a quicker rise, tighter, and harder sound. The mahogany body gives it a thick and rich bass to mid-range sound. The sound tendency may be a little close to the solid-body Gibson series.
Contrary to the impression one generally has of violin basses, the sound is straightforward and very easy to create.
If you are interested in Gibson type basses but think they are a little too peculiar, this is the one for you to try!
