A premium guitar released in the 1980s as a joint project between Martin and its Japanese distributor, Tokai Gakki.
Martin / 1982 HD-28 Custom Pre War Reissue
The HD-28 was released in 1976 as Martin's herringbone D-28 model.
In the 1980s, Martin and Tokai Gakki, the Japanese distributor of the D-28, jointly planned and released this HD-28 Custom Pre War Reissue, which was carefully designed to reproduce the pre-war D-28 in detail.
The HD-28 Custom Pre War Reissue is the result of the joint project between Martin and Tokai Gakki, the Japanese distributor of the D-28,
The HD-28 Custom Pre War Reissue features the essence of the Pre War D-28, such as the scalloped X-bracing, long saddle, ivoroid binding, tortoiseshell pickguard, and more.
At the time, only a few dozen were distributed in Japan.
It is miraculous that it has found its way back to our store.
What is more surprising is that this is a first owner guitar. It has been cared for by a single user for more than 40 years.
It is not easy to use in the modern world, but it is worth mentioning that it comes with Morris CP-2 contact pickups, which were optional at the time.
Thanks to the care it has received, it has been kept in very good condition with no cracks.
It is not every day you get a chance to come across a D-28 with a story like this.
