This D-41 has some maintenance work, but the sound is irreplaceable.
D-41 made in 1970. This is one of the first year that Indian rosewood was used for the body sides and back. The body top is made of German spruce. The tone is gorgeous and delicate.
This particular instrument has been played and maintained repeatedly.
The neck has been played and the paint has worn off, but it looks like it has been over-lacquered and has a smooth and comfortable texture. There is a mark on the end of the neck where a strap pin was attached, but this may have been fixed along with the neck maintenance.
The pickguard has been replaced, and there is a crack repair mark on the bottom of the first string side. The back side has been reinforced. The back side has been reinforced.
The bridge has been scraped off the top surface and has been repositioned. The frets have been replaced and the neck is straight. The string height is 2.7mm on the 6th string side and 2.2mm on the 1st string side at the 12th fret. Although the strings are set slightly high, they are easy enough to play and show their potential. The saddle protrusion height is not that high, but as mentioned above, it is set well, so there is no need to worry. There is a vertical line on the side of the bridge, but it is not a wood crack but a paint checking.
There are many things, but the vintage sound may be concentrated because it has been in the hands of the player and craftsman over a long period of time. The tone is as refined and grainy as a piano. The thin pick, especially at .060 mm, gives it a nice, crisp tone.
If possible, I would like everyone who plays acoustic to try it. It is one such instrument.
