Gibson / 1956 J-185
Vintage J-185 was produced for only 9 years from 1951 to 1959.
It is a jumbo body style with 16 1/4" width, which is one size smaller than J-200.
The simple decoration gives it a very attractive Gibson appearance.
The body is made of maple, the same as the J-200, and the body back is filled with tiger grain, which is hidden by the simple decorations, but still has a strong presence.
The head and fingerboard are decorated with pearl inlays in the familiar style of the Southern Jumbo, and the upper belly bridge has a Maltese cross embedded in it, a very impressive style.
The medium scale has a very attractive loose Gibson-like sound and comfortable playing feel.
Although the bass sound is less tame than that of the J-200, its flat sound texture and sharpness are irresistible.
It is rare in circulation, and there are very few opportunities to obtain one, so this is one that you should definitely try.
[Condition.]
The condition of the neck and wood has been inspected and adjusted by a professional acoustic guitar craftsman and all parts are in excellent condition.
The neck has been straightened and adjusted with no chatter or jamming, and the string height at the 12th fret is optimally set at 2.5mm on the 6th string side and 2.0mm on the 1st string side.
The saddle protrusion is approximately 1.5mm.
Bridge and saddle have been replaced.
