"The Problem of How to Transport Trumpets and Flugelhorns"
I’m Nakamura. Over the past seven years, I’ve introduced you to over 3,000 instrument cases, yet I still spend every day searching for something even better.
This is surely an eternal challenge for humanity (or at least for trumpeters), and finding a case that perfectly meets all criteria is extremely difficult.
Now, there’s one crucial factor to consider when choosing an instrument case.
It’s an issue on the instrument’s side: “the size of the flugelhorn.”
In fact, since flugelhorns are manufactured with varying bell sizes and coil diameters depending on the manufacturer, some cases will fit them while others won’t.
For example, Yamaha—a prime example of a compact flugelhorn—has a bell diameter of 152 mm, and the distance from the top of the bell to the bottom of the instrument is 240 mm.
On the other hand, the flugelhorns made by Queen Brass, despite having the same bell diameter, have a more spacious coiling, so they require 280 mm of space.
“I bought one without checking carefully, but the instrument wouldn’t fit…”
