A path that every trumpet player in a wind ensemble—and especially those who play jazz—must take.

"The Problem of How to Transport a Trumpet and a Flugelhorn"

Over the past seven years, I, Nakamura, have introduced over 3,000 instrument cases to you all, yet I still spend every day searching for something even better.

This is surely an eternal challenge for humanity (or rather, trumpeters), and finding a case that perfectly meets all requirements is likely very difficult.

Now, there is one crucial factor to consider when choosing an instrument case.

That is the instrument itself: the size of the flugelhorn.

Actually, since flugelhorns are manufactured with different bell sizes and bores depending on the manufacturer, some cases will fit your instrument while others won’t.

For example, Yamaha—a leading manufacturer of compact flugelhorns—has a bell diameter of 152 mm, and the distance from the top of the bell to the bottom of the instrument is 240 mm.

On the other hand, the flugelhorns manufactured by Queen Brass have the same bell diameter, but because they feature a more spacious coiling, they require 280 mm of space.

"I bought one without checking properly, but the instrument wouldn’t fit..."

To prevent such situations, I’ve created this chart.
