Here is a Q&A regarding the most frequently asked questions about the "BLUESERIES" SUSTAINOR.

Q. Is this a simulator that imitates the sound?

A. No. Each BLUESERIES model is a clone (analog specification) created by meticulously analyzing the original model and recreating the same sound again with modern technology and parts.

 

Q. Is it a limited edition product?

A. Yes. It is a completely limited production. It will be discontinued as soon as the stock runs out.

 

Q. Where is the country of manufacture?

A. It is manufactured in Japan. Since each product is handmade in Japan, it is produced in small quantities and arrivals are always on a piecemeal basis. We apologize for any inconvenience caused when we sell out.

 

Q. Does SUSTAINOR work with a regular AC adapter or a commercial power supply?

A. Basically, a 9V center-minus AC adapter can be used, but this product consumes a lot of power in operation. There are many reports that existing AC adapters do not work properly due to insufficient capacity. Therefore, we strongly recommend using the dedicated AC adapter "GBL-DC1000" separately.If you are using multiple effectors with the power supply, please be aware that the power supply may not have enough capacity and may not work properly.

 

Q. Does SUSTAINOR work with batteries?

A. Yes. It does work, but only for about 10 minutes (using new alkaline batteries). Please think of SUSTAINOR as an emergency power supply in case the AC adapter or DC cable is disconnected during a live show or performance.

 

Q. What does "GATE" do?

A. Unlike most noise gates, the noise gate on this unit works at frequencies close to the noise, and does not close off the entire frequency range. This is the same functionality of the original SUSTAINOR machine. The trigger knob is used to adjust the level of the signal input to the gate, and as you turn it to the right, the gate will work at lower signal levels. (The gate is still functioning even when the knob is in the 0 position, and the LED lights up in response.)

 

Q. Can it be used as a preamp or in line?

A. Yes.The sound is perfect for line use.Because it isYou can connect it directly to your DAW and record that sound. This is a sound that can never be reproduced by plug-ins, and can only be achieved with a completely analog circuit. Of course, you can also use it as a preamplifier by plugging it into the return of an amplifier.

 

Q. If I have GENERATOR, is SUSTAINOR unnecessary?

A. No. The GENERATOR is a model specialized in distortion, whereas the SUSTAINOR is a 2-channel model with a distortion channel and a clean channel that can be switched at any time, so it can be used in combination with the GENERATOR.

 

Q. Will BLUESERIES still be available?

A. Yes. We cannot give specifics yet, but as long as we receive requests from our customers, we will continue to pursue all possibilities and challenge ourselves to develop new models.

We have received some questions about the noise gate function in this unit, and we would like to explain it to you.

Unlike most noise gates, the noise gate on this unit works at frequencies close to the noise and does not close all frequency bands. (ROCKMAN SUSTAINOR's original function).
The trigger knob is used to adjust the level of the signal input to the gate, and as you turn it to the right, the gate will work at lower signal levels. (The gate is still functioning even when the knob is in the 0 position, and the LED lights up in response.)

It is a very unique gate function! Please give it a try!

At last! At last, the proto is completed!

We had already made it look pretty good, but our goal was not to make it look good, but to make it the pinnacle of its kind. Our goal was not "good" but the pinnacle, the perfect reproduction of "that sound".

Even the developers were stunned, "You're still going to do that? even the developers were stunned and asked, "Are you still going to do it?…We continued on our way. But it was all worth it, and now this day has arrived. I still can't contain my excitement.

The sound was originally very good and impeccable as a general distortion, but we could not compromise on the range of the sound that was unique to the Rockman era, such as the unique "kon-kon" compressor feel and the "koh-koh" sound. This was achieved.

Speaking of sustainers, not only distortion but also clean is essential! I had a hard time finding the right balance between distortion and clean. If you try to make the most of one, it will affect the other.…However, it is not a matter of prioritizing one over the other, but both must have that sound.

Frankly speaking, we would have been able to complete the distortion alone much sooner. But that alone is not enough. It is not a sustainer without that clean. And today! At last, that thought has come true.

Another charm of the Sustainer. It is a preamplifier. This was also important. In analyzing the circuit, I came up with the idea that Tom Scholz probably aimed for a sound that could be used by connecting it to a desk. If so, it is nothing short of amazing that he would have thought of that at that time.

This product has the same finish, and yes, the sound is perfect even when played on line. This is.DTMusers.DAWand record with the same sound. This is a sound that can never be reproduced by plug-ins, and can only be achieved with a fully analog circuit. Of course, it is also powerful when plugged into the return of an amplifier!

We finally received the prototype from the developer this time and did a sound check!

 

Last time it was just the base, but now that the chassis is actually finished, we can get a real feel for it with that sound!

The sound was greatly upgraded from the base sample.

GOAT "BLUESERIES" is a project that was born to solve these problems. The "GENERATOR(DISTORTION)", "STEREO CHORUS", and "STEREO ECHO" models have been released so far.

How was the last video?

Actually, Sano hadn't played the actual machine in a while, so it was quite fresh and fun.

Including the texture of distortion and the superb clean sound, I once again felt that SUSTANOR is wonderful! I was impressed once again by the quality of the distortion and the superb clean sound. Personally, I think it is a guitar sound that symbolizes the American rock of the 80's.

Now, I would like to show you the internal board of the SUSTANOR, which is currently under development!

The parts are all lined up in a narrow space! This is how the LEDs light up when the switch is turned on and off!

I hope everyone who buys this product will enjoy comparing it with the real SUSTAINOR. Or, you can enjoy playing BOSTON songs at home. I am imagining how it would be like.

I played ROCKMAN SUSTAINOR again this time!

Unlike the DISTORTION GENERATOR, the SUSTAINOR is basically a 2-channel unit, allowing you to switch between, for example, channel 1 for distortion sounds and channel 2 for clean sounds. In addition, it is loaded with features such as a SMART GATE to suppress noise!

In particular, the clean sound provided by clean 1 (including semi-clean) and clean 2 is unique to this SUSTAINOR! We will pay special attention to this sound when developing new products!

 We have received a report from development that the substrate for SUSTAINOR is almost ready!

 

In terms of normal usage, the DISTORTION GENERATOR is more of a drive, and the SUSTAINOR is positioned as a preamp.

SUSTAINOR is,compressor to adjust the input gain, and it also has a smart gate (noise gate). There are two types each of distortion and clean, and many people are soothed by the sparkling clean tone of clean 2 in particular, which has become a popular model even today.

SUSTAINOR" was released in the late 1980s, and many guitarists marveled at the unique world view that its distinctive sound created. The rack type is not always easy to use, and the number of existing good products is decreasing, and those who already own one say they are worried about when it will break.

So we came up with an idea.

We thought, "Everyone should be able to easily obtain the rack type. We also thought we had to make a pedal that was compact and easy for anyone to use, in order to eliminate the hassle of rack equipment.

Have we ever been able to reproduce the ROCKMAN SUSTAINOR in a satisfactory form?

There may have been electronic simulations in the past, but in an era when there were no circuit diagrams, it was a daunting task just to disassemble the actual product, disassemble the inside, follow the wiring from the inputs one by one to check the elements, and analyze the exact circuit.
The only person we could ask to do this was a Japanese engineer who had analyzed the GENERATOR. This time, he managed to accept our wishes and contacted us that he is currently struggling with the project.
