The "JV serial" is a serial number consisting of the letters "JV" followed by a five-digit number. The "Made In Japan" inscription below the headstock logo is a distinctive visual feature from that period. However, this was apparently unpopular, and it was later moved to the side of the neck joint.

Furthermore, if you look at the neck pocket, you can see stamps indicating the grade: Ⓐ, Ⓑ, and Ⓒ.
